Reporting Manager

MoveInSync tool now allows an Employee to have a Reporting Manager associated with him/her. This is in addition to an employee being part of a project team and having multiple SPOCs/team managers for the same.

The reporting manager for an employee will have the same privileges as available to SPOCs.
  1. View the employees reporting to them
  2. Create schedules for the employees reporting to them
  3. Edit/Cancel schedules for the employee reporting to them
  4. Update profile page of the employees reporting to them
  5. Receive notifications from ETS related to the employees reporting to them

This will help organizations create employee views closer to their hierarchy structures in the HR systems. So, for an employee who belongs to a project manager, who is different from his/her reporting manager - now both the project manager and the reporting manager will be able to manage the transport needs of the employee.

An example of the structure:
Ramesh Mahajan (emp ID: 1001) is the Reporting Manager for following employees -
  1. Ajay Singh (emp ID: 1982). [Team: Project Alpha. Team Manager: Ramesh Mahajan]
  2. Akanksha Mehra (emp ID: 1290) [Team: Project Gamma. Team Manager: Janet Jone]
  3. Md. Ibrahim (emp ID: 1431) [Team: Project Gamma. Team Manager: Janet Jone]

In addition, Ramesh Mahajan is the project manager for following project teams -
  1. Team Name: Project Alpha
    1. Ajay Singh (emp ID: 1982)
    2. Atul Sharma (emp ID: 2013)
  2. Team Name: Project Beta
    1. Krishnan Aiyer (emp ID: 2019)
    2. Madhu Singhal (emp ID: 3011)

Where, Atul Sharma, Krishnan Aiyer and Madhu Singhal have their own reporting managers.

Now, if Ramesh Mahajan logs in to ETS, Ramesh needs capability to view/create/edit/cancel schedules for all these 6 employees. In Project Gamma, there may be other employees as well, but Ramesh would not have access to these employees. So, when Ramesh logs in to the system, Ramesh will see below view -

Team Name
SPOC Name
Number of Employees
Project Alpha
Ramesh Mahajan
2
Project Beta
Ramesh Mahajan
2
Project Gamma
Janet Jones
2

So, even though Project Gamma has more employees in it, since only 2 employees report to Ramesh from this team, Ramesh has access to view/create/edit/cancel schedules for only these two employees.

In the old system, Ramesh Mahajan will see the below view -

Notice that Ramesh is unable to see employees from Project Gamma where he is not the Team Manager, although 2 employees who report to him work in this project team.

In the new ETS system, Ramesh Mahajan will see the below view -
So, even though Janet Jones is the Project/Team manager for Project Gamma, Ramesh will be able to view/create/edit/cancel schedules for 2 employees of this team who report to Ramesh.

If Janet were to login to ETS, Janet would see the below view -
Janet is the Reporting Manager for one employee in Project Alpha.

So, Janet sees all the employees (4) in Project Gamma since she is the Team Manager for this project. Whereas, Ramesh could see only 2 employees who reported to him.

Ramesh’s view of Project Gamma                                                              Janet’s view of Project Gamma

How to Assign Reporting Manager to an Employee

We can assign a reporting manager to an Employee by either using ETS’s UI interface of Create Employee or using the Data Sync for employee data bulk uploads/edits.

On ETS interface, Reporting Manager has been added as a new input field and an existing employee can be added as a Reporting Manager using this.

Permissions and Privileges for Reporting Manager

Reporting Manager has the exact same privileges in the organization as a project team manager/SPOC.

So, a Site Administrator can grant the privilege to receive Schedule Change Notification from the Scheduling Management -> Schedule Change Notification page.

Similarly, other privileges for a Shift edit/cancel/etc. will be same for SPOC and a Reporting Manager -

Enable Reporting Manager

MIS Admin can enable the Reporting Manager feature by checking the checkbox ENABLE_REPORTING_MANAGER on Properties Manager page under Operations properties. Contact support@moveinsync.com to enable this.
